The Lebanese Independent Film Festival -LIFF المهرجان اللبناني للأفلام المستقلة launches its 2019 edition, September 11 at 7:30 PM at Station Beirut, with the participation of 180 films from over than 87 countries worldwide competing within 17 different categories!
The Screenings will take place September 12, 13, 14 & 15 at Station Beirut, Jisr el wati with a Closing Ceremony & Awards on the 15th at 9 pm.
Workshops, panels, discussions, interviews and special screenings will take place during the festival.
This year’s jury includes actor and director Lucien Abou Rjeily, actor Wissam Fares, actress Andrée Nakouzi, actress Christine Choueiri, actor and TV host Shadi Richa, French co-director of the Lebanese Film Festival in France – FFLF Sarah Hajjar, film critic Anis Tabet, French writer and director Christophe Nassif, American actress and director Denita Williams-Trigg.
Our partners this year include “Embrace” NGO for mental health, “A Night of Misfit” film festival, the French Institute, Clockart Production, Al Araby TV, Beirut Online Taxi, The Independent Film Festival IFF – USA and the Lebanese Film Festival in France – FFLF.

We believe that film festivals have a responsibility, not only to their immediate communities but to society as a whole: ART SHOULD HAVE A MESSAGE. The Lebanese Independent Film Festival is committed, along with our NGO Partners “EMBRACE” to fighting against the stigma that is attached to mental health issues. Our goal is to build healthy communities where everyone, including artists can use their art to express themselves freely in whatever medium that they choose. LIFF has chosen the image of the iconic superstar MARILYN MONROE. She embodies both the spirit of sex appeal and cinema and was known to suffer with her own mental health issues. Our goal is to create safe spaces where artists can come together, network, collaborate and support one another.
أطلق مهرجان الأفلام اللبنانية المستقلة نسخته لعام ٢٠١٩ يوم الجمعة في ٢٦ تموز بحضور مؤسسي جمعية “امبريس” للصحة النفسية.
وينطلق المهرجان في ١٢ أيلول المقبل، في سينما متروبوليس امبير صوفيل، في محلة الأشرفية – بيروت، على أن يسبقه في ١١ أيلول حفل افتتاح، ويختتم في ال ١٥ من أيلول بحفل لتسليم الفائزين الجوائز من قبل لجنة الحكام التي تضم شخصيات محلية و عالمية، بالإضافة إلى عدد من المفاجئات.
وكشف مدير المهرجان غوتييه شربل بعد ان نحو ٩٠٠ فيلم تقدم هذه السنة للتنافس في المهرجان من أكثر من ٨٧ دولة، مشيرا الى ان برنامج هذه السنة للمهرجان يتضمن افلام تم اختيارها من أكبر المهرجانات العالمية، مثل مهرجان تورنتو السينمائي الدولي، ومهرجان روتردام الدولي للأفلام، ومهرجان مدينة البندقية السينمائي، ومهرجان كان السينمائي، ومهرجان رؤى الواقع للأفلام الوثائقية

وقال رعد أن مهرجانات الأفلام يقع على عاتقها مسؤولية تجاه المجتمع وصناع الأفلام، خصوصا ان الفن يحب أن يحمل رسالة، لذلك يرفع المهرجان لهذا العام الصوت للتوعية حول الصحة النفسية بالشراكة مع جمعية “امبريس”. وهدفنا المشترك هو مجتمع صحي حيث يمكن للفنان استخدام الفن كوسيط للتعبير عن رسائله بحرية تامة. كما اخترنا هذا العام النجمة مارلين مونرو لتتصدر صورتها ملصقاتنا لهذا العام لعدة أسباب أهمها ارتباطها بالسينما ولجاذبيتها التي اشتهرت بها، وكذلك من اجل شعار الصحة النفسية.
ولفت رعد إلى أن المهرجان يراد منه أن يلعب دورا للتواصل ولدعم الفنانين المستقلين، كما أنه يحاول أن يوجد مساحة حيث يمكن للفنانين تقديم يد المساعدة لبعضهم البعض.
