Whispers of Serenity

Name: Chantale Salameh
Country: Nepal

Bio: Born in Lebanon in 1999, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Photography from NDU, Lebanon, in 2020. I find solace in capturing images, using photography to convey stories and memories that often remain untold. My fascination with the unknown, the faceless, and the voiceless drives me to explore the depths of the human experience through their silent narratives and the natural environments that surround them.

About the project: These four photographs, captured on film during my 2023 solo journey through Nepal, offer a glimpse into moments that left a remarkable impression on me. Along the way, I came across individuals whose expressions spoke volumes, prompting me to select two that tell silent stories of resilience and grace. The first is a woman of few words, gazing with quiet intensity. The second, a solitary figure I met while hiking deep in the forest, radiates peace and wisdom born of isolation. Each image is a fleeting intersection of landscape and humanity, where emotion and environment intertwine. This journey became a pathway of self-discovery, revealing new layers of emotion and understanding through encounters with unfamiliar faces and places.

One-Month Journey Across Mongolia

Name: Wissam Khoury
Country: Mongolia

Bio: Wissam Khoury is a documentary photographer based in the Middle East. Passionate about uncovering unseen locations in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, his work has been exhibited in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan.

About the project:
In April, I arrived in Ulaanbaatar, the world’s coldest capital. After a few days exploring, I set off on a snowy journey to northern Mongolia. Driving through blinding snow, I reached Tultiin Tokhoi Valley at night—a remote, breathtaking place that felt like the edge of the world.
The next day, I crossed the frozen Lake Tsagaannuur, watching the sunset as locals drew water from the ice. On the third day, I ventured into the Taiga forest, home to the Tsaatan people—nomadic reindeer herders who migrate with the seasons.
Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, wild animals, and untamed beauty, I experienced the profound serenity of being in the middle of nowhere.

Wandering and wondering.
