The Half of it (7.5/10)

“I always thought that there was one way to love.
One right way! But, there are more. So many more than i knew.”

I do not know what to tell you because despite what I say (or write) I know that your superficial mind can not comprehend the amount of beauty that constitutes the heart and soul of this simple film. A film titled THE HALF OF IT.

I won’t deny its imperfections nor state the opposite. But I can not ignore the fact that this film subtly made his way into my heart and made me fall head over heels with its authentic storytelling techniques and sublime performances.

The way the story unraveled ever so smoothly and in complete harmony with all the other elements of this film was really beautiful. The slow pacing and the quite and calm atmosphere that was generated was, no other than, hypnotic and addictive.

The Half of It explored many major topics such as homosexuality, religion, race, love and philosophy, amongst many more, in a way that is considered somehow discrete yet totally realistic and fresh.

Leah Lewis, Daniel Diemer and alexxis Lemire did a remarkable job with their performances. Their acting screams authenticity and innocence. I am truly impressed!

I guess what I am trying to say after all is that this film might not be anyone’s first choice, nor second for that matter, but once you decide to give it a chance, i am sure it will manage to captivate you from the early beginning and take you on a ride full of subtle emotions and innocent secrets.

I highly recommend it.
